Abs and Glutes - Glutes and Abs!!

I LOVED hearing your requests and the common theme for body parts that people would like to work on is Abs and Glutes - Glutes and Abs. I'm not surprised by these requests as these body parts are essential for an overall strong body! And also not so surprising is that there are many exercises that strengthen both muscle groups - like bridges - so you can often work on both simultaneously!!
When your GLUTES are strong you can walk, run, cycle, climb stairs, squat, lunge and the list goes on... The glutes are the largest muscle group in the body and contribute to many activities so keeping them strong is essential to many demanding physical activities and the activities of daily living as we age.
And ABS - the abdominal muscles are part of our core and the foundation to our being and inner strength. I've always said that a strong core equals a strong foundation. We build a strong core from the inside out. Very often the focus is on the "six pack" but this is the outer layer. And we truly have to work from the inside out. For instance, building blocks can be exercises such as pelvic tilts, supine marches and bird dogs, however, these are often overlooked because they are more subtle and work on small, yet very important, muscles within. We first have to strengthen these muscles before we can move on to more complex or advanced exercises.
I will post exercises for both Abs and Glutes - Glutes and Abs. Do what you can and work at YOUR level!! Push yourself but also be patient and kind to yourself. It doesn't happen overnight but with commitment and perseverance you will achieve your goals!
